It is with great love and sadness that the family announce the passing of their mother, Winnifred (Wood) Foran, wife of the late Winston Foran, which occurred on Wednesday, January 14, 2026.
Born in 1931, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Catherine (Thibodeau) Wood. Winnie lived a remarkable 94 years. The last surviving member of her immediate family. She was a woman of deep faith and always prayed for her loved ones. She was the matriarch who wove her family together. She leaves behind a huge family who will forever cherish her memory.
Winnie is survived by daughters: Janice Desrosiers; Deanne (Keith) Tucker; Karen (David) Mitchell and Teresa (Gordon) Baisley, sons: Frank (Darlene), Winston and Randy (Jackie) of Calgary, AB; her sister-in-law: Francis Wood; and her daughters-in-law: Lesley Foran and Patty Foran. Also, 20 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by daughter, Sheila Murphy; her sons, John and Barry; her sons-in-law, Jean Desrosiers and Peter Murphy; sisters, Mary, Nancy, Theresa, Irene, Beatrice and Jenny; and brothers, Herbie, Joe, Gerald, Billie and Thomas.
Winnie lived with a vibrant energy. Before her husband’s passing, she was a homemaker and dispatched for their business, Veteran’s Taxi. After his passing, she continued the business for a few years before selling it. She became a house cleaner for a short while before opening a Bed & Breakfast and then eventually opening a secondhand clothing shop “New to You” which she ran successfully before retiring. She would say her greatest role of all was being a mother and grandmother.
The family would like to thank the extra mural nurses and Dr. Kris for the care provided to their mother.
There will be no viewing. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at 10 o'clock. Interment will be at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Cemetery later in the spring.
