William (Bill) Henderson

William (Bill) Henderson, of Nelson, passed away on Wednesday, January 11, 2012, at the Miramichi Regional Hospital, at the age of 86.

Born in Whitneyville, he was the son of the late Earl Roberts and Mary (Howe) Henderson. He worked as a custodian before his retirement and was a member of St James United Church. Bill was also a Volunteer Firefighter and the first Fire Chief of the Nelson Fire Department.

He will be sadly missed by his four daughters Sharon (Ralph Nash) of Chatham, Rejeanna (Herbie) of Red Deer,AB, Ruby of Chatham, and Cheryl (Troy) of Chatham; his two sons Carson (Susan) and Bertrand both of Nelson; his three sisters Mary (Victor Patterson) of Coburn,ON, Margaret (Robert White) of Fredericton, and Edith of Chatham; eight grandchildren; seven great grandchildren' three great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Bill was predeceased by his wife Catherine (MacDonald) Henderson and three brothers Sterling, Hershal, and Clark.

The family will receive relatives and friends from Northumberland Funeral Home, on Friday, January 13, 2012, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The funeral service will be held from Northumberland Funeral Home Chapel, on Saturday, January 14, 2012, at 2 pm, with Rev. Charlene Maguire MacKnight officiating.

As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society, or to a memorial of one's choice.
