  • Sister Réjeanne Bourque died peacefully on Saturday, September 11, 2021, in Charlottetown. Besides her CND community, she leaves to mourn her brother and sister-in-law Réal and Connie Bourque, her nephews Tony (Delcia) and Paul (Carolyn) Bourque and her niece Tracy (Chris) Dixon; as well as grand nieces and nephews.

    She was predeceased by her parents, Antoine and Claire (Babin) Bourque and two infant siblings.

    Sister Réjeanne taught in Larry's River, NS and Miramichi, NB. For many years, she was French Coordinator for two school districts in New Brunswick. She received the Queen's Silver and Golden Jubilee medals for her promotion of bilingualism. She was involved in community leadership as part-time provincial Councilor. She became Associate Director of the Canadian Office of RENEW, a diocesan renewal program, during which she helped train diocesan teams across the country. She later served as pastoral associate in St Patrick's parish, Miramichi. This was followed by volunteer prison and hospital ministry. She moved to Notre Dame Convent and then to Andrew's in Charlottetown.

    Visitation will take place for Sister Réjeanne on Wednesday, September 15, 2021, at Northumberland Funeral Home, from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, September 16, 2021, at 11am, from St Mary's Roman Catholic Church, with Father Stanislas Paulin officiating and Father Leon Creamer as homilist. Interment will take place following the mass in the Notre Dame Congregational plot in St Mary's Roman Catholic Cemetery.

    As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to a memorial of one's choice.
