It is with great sadness that the family of Shaun Nixon announces his passing on May 13, 2026, at Percy’s Place at the age of 59.
Born in France, he was the son of the late Betty (English) and Bruce Nixon.
Shaun led a varied life, experiencing and overcoming many life and personal challenges over the years, including addiction and homelessness. Resilient, he overcame or adapted, as needed, during the challenging times. The birth of his son Tabias and becoming a single Dad was the seminal point of his life. As he said, “17 years ago…I discovered that I had created the most perfect blessing of my life. It has been a journey of learning and life-changing experiences…Thank you for the privilege of being your dad. You have taught me more than you will ever know”. Over the years, as he was able, he leveraged his first-person experiences, assisting those individuals experiencing challenges, and the organizations that support them, providing understanding, guidance and help. Shaun gave back when he was able to.
His son Tabias cherished the time he had with his dad, thankful to him for keeping him safe, happy, supported and loved. He shares his dad’s love of hard rock and heavy metal music, crediting his dad for this.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Miramichi Regional Hospital and Dr. Losier for the superb care, compassion and assistance they afforded Shaun and our family. Percy’s Place Hospice will always hold a special place in our hearts. Their dedication, empathy, comfort and dignity afforded Shaun, his son and our family during this difficult time was genuine and second to none.
Shaun will be greatly missed by his son, Tabias Nixon of Miramichi; his brother, Pat Nixon (Patti) of Greenwood, NS; his sister, Kim Pollard of Kingston, NS; nieces and nephews, Rory Nixon, Ashley Nixon (Brook Fisher), Brandon Pollard, Russell Pollard, and Shawna MacIntyre (Mark); and his great niece, Ry-Ann.
In keeping with his wishes, there will be no visitation. A celebration will be held at a later date.
As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to Percy’s Place or a memorial of one's choice.
Funeral arrangements are in the care of Northumberland Funeral Home & Crematorium, 102 Pleasant St, telephone (506) 622-7741.
