Born in Newcastle, he was the son of the late Sam Matchett (Sr) and Lily (O'Donnell).
Besides Linda, he is survived by one daughter Kelly (Dennis) Urquhart of South Nelson; one son Brian (Megan) of Miramichi; one sister Agnes (Wayne Corey) of Meadowville, NS; four brothers George (Kathy), Calvin (Marella), Neil (Fern) all of South Nelson and Clinton of Fredericton.
The family will receive relatives and friends from Northumberland Funeral Home on Monday October 16, 2017, from 6 to 9 PM. Funeral service will be held from Northumberland Funeral Home Chapel, on Tuesday, October 17, 2017, at 11 am, with Rev.Charlene Maguire MacKnight officiating.
As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to the Miramichi Food Bank, or to the Miramichi SPCA.
