Ruby Elizabeth (Savage) Johnston, of Bartibogue Bridge, passed away on Thursday, April 18, 2013, at the Miramichi Regional Hospital, at the age of 89.

Born in Bartibogue Bridge, she was the daughter of the late James and Alice (Mahoney) Savage. She was a homemaker, a lifelong member of St Matthew's Ladies Aid, and a member of St Matthew's Presbyterian Church, in Bartibogue Bridge.

She will be sadly missed by her daughter Joan (Allan MacKenzie) of Bartibogue Bridge; her son Fred (Paula) of Bartibogue Bridge; three sisters Marion Arseneault of Miramichi, Kaye Tozer (Donald) of Bathurst, Lillian Hill of Nipigion, ON; five sister-in-laws Marie Savage, Gladys Savage, Bernice Savage, Rhoda Savage, and Margaret Savage-Ross; four grandchildren Natalee Morehouse, Rebekah Sullivan, Jamie MacKenzie, and Barry Johnston; seven great grandchildren MacKenzie Morehouse, Kamryn Morehouse, Emma MacKenzie, Carly MacKenzie, Kate MacKenzie, Charlie Sullivan, and Alison Johnston; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Lee Johnston; seven brothers Byron, Joseph, Lawrence, William, Percy, Robert, and Donald; one sister Edna McIntyre; three brother-in-laws Dick Arseneault, Bill Hill, John McIntyre; and one sister-in-law Flo Savage.

At Ruby's request, there will be a family visitation only, at Northumberland Funeral Home, on Friday, April 19, 2013, from 2 until 7 pm. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2013, at 2 pm, from Northumberland Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Gillis Smith officiating.

As expression of sympathy, donations may be made to St Matthew's Ladies Aid, or to a memorial of one's choice.
