The death of Robert (Bobby) Leroy Waye, of Mount Saint Joseph Nursing Home and formerly of South Esk, NB, occurred on Wednesday, December 24, 2025, at the age of 80. He was the son of the late Robert & Ada (Hare) Waye of Wayerton.
Bobby is survived by his children: David Waye of South Esk, and Marie Matchett (Kirby) of Miramichi; grandchildren: Mariah Stockless (Zach), Victoria Waye (Dr. Brent McCullum) and Will Matchett; great-grandchildren: Archie Stockless and Layla McCullum; long-time companion Judy Matchett; sisters: Wanda Waye, Joan Goode, Marilyn O'Brien and Clora Cortes.
Besides his parents, he is predeceased by his sisters: Audrey Waye, Beulah Druet, Irene Rolph, and Nellie Williston; brothers: James, Carl, Mervin, Earl, Perley, Ernie and infant brothers Leslie and John.
Bobby loved mechanics and also worked in construction at various sites across Canada. He was a member of the Miramichi Shrine Club Fact & Figures Unit and the Miramichi Chapter #44 Order of the Eastern Star. He was also a 50 year member of Northumberland Lodge #17 F&AM. Bobby had a great sense of humour, and he was always willing to help others. He took part in the Canada Day parade each year, proudly driving the tractor for the Miramichi Shrine Club. He loved family gatherings, music, and watching wrestling. He will be greatly missed by his children, family and friends.

The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 30th, at 12 pm, at Northumberland Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Geza Szemok officiating.
Prior to the funeral, members of Northumberland Lodge #17 F &AM and Miramichi Chapter #44 of the Eastern Star are asked to assemble at Northumberland Funeral Home at 10:30 am for services at 11 am. Burial will take place in the Wesley United Church Cemetery in Trout Brook later in the spring.
In Bobby's memory, and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Miramichi Shrine Club or a charity of one's choice.
