  • Robert J. Walker passed away on Saturday, September 10, 2011, at the Miramichi Regional Hospital, at the age of 96.

    Born in Moncton, NB, he was the son of the late George W. and Jenet (Somers) Walker. He had been a Passenger Sales Officer with Canadian National Railway retiring after 32 years of service, in Halifax, NS, as Passenger Sales Manager. He was a World War II member of the RCAF and member of the Rotary Club of Halifax, NS until retirement in 1977.

    His death was preceded by his wives Thelma Jean Dickson Walker and Mary A. Vickers Walker, two brothers Lorne and Reg , and two sisters Loison and Phyllis. He was the last living member of his immediate family.

    He leaves three step grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

    The family will receive relatives and friends from Northumberland Funeral Home, on Monday, September 12, 2011, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. There will also be visitation prior to the funeral on Tuesday, September 13, 2011, at 12 pm from Newcastle United Baptist Church. The funeral service will be held at 2 pm, from Newcastle United Baptist Church, with Rev. Daniel Cormier officiating. Interment will take place in the Riverside Cemetery.

    As expression of sympathy, donations may be made to Hospice Miramichi, or to a memorial of one's choice.
