Robert Hosford

October 27, 1956 — November 12, 2025

Beloved husband, father, pop pop, uncle (great uncle), and friend, Robert Hosford, passed away on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and adventure.

A devoted family man, Robert was the cornerstone of his family, always putting their needs before his own. His love and support knew no bounds, and he was always there to lend a helping hand or offer a listening ear. Robert's warm smile and infectious laugh could light up a room, and his sense of humor could turn even the toughest days into memorable moments.

Robert was his family's biggest cheerleader, proudly supporting their endeavours and celebrating their successes. Whether it was cheering on his favorite teams or teaching a lesson. Robert's passion for sports was only matched by his love for his family.

Robert was a hard worker and a proud provider for his family. His dedication to his work and his community was unwavering, and he instilled these values in his daughter and grandchildren. He was a man of integrity, always standing up for what he believed in and treating others with kindness and respect.

Robert is predeceased by his loving parents, Vincent Hosford and Elva Hosford; his loving wife, Linda; his grandson, Maddox Thompson and brother Ricky Hosford (Starr Hosford).

He is survived by his daughter, Candace Hosford (Alex Thompson) of Port Syndey, Ontario and his two cherished grandchildren, Wyatt and Octavia Thompson; his brother, Bruce (Cathy) Hosford, and his sister Alma Matchett (Delbert); his nieces, Heather Woodworth, Amy Hosford , Shasta Hosford, Alison Hosford and his nephews James Hosford, Vinnie Hosford, Kirby Matchett and Colin Matchett; along with his great nieces and nephews. Also, his special lady, Lady Di, as he called her, Dianne Phillips and her two children, Blair Ditchburn and Dan Ditchburn of Ontario. He also leaves behind his predeceased wife's children, who have always held a special place in his life: George Sedgewick, Michael Sedgewick, Betty Grinde, and Brenda Sedgewick, along with their children.

Robert is also survived by his adopted daughters by love, Megan Hebert, Kelly Reid, Tosha Stewart and Vicky Mullin, all of Miramichi; along with Ashley Peters, Maria Rutledge, Amanda Rivers, Elizabeth Rivers, Katlyn Jancic,  Andrea Thompson , Robyn Lacey, Paige Lubbelinkhof, Shannon Bagnell and April Middlebrook, who have all poured unwavering support not just for him but his daughter and grandchildren as well.

In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of Robert's life will be held in the summer of 2026 . 

In lieu of flowers, donations to Miamichi Dialysis Clinic (attn Margolaine Benoit), Sick Kids Hospital Foundation, or to a charity of one's choice would be appreciated.

Thank you to the staff of Miramichi Regional Hospital and to the Palliative Care unit for the care, attention, and comfort they provided in his final days; to Miramichi Eye NB Centre, Miramichi Accessible Transit, and a special thank you to Pastor Hal Smith for being there in his last moments, saying a prayer as he was surrounded by loved ones.

His daughter wishes to thank everyone who was there supporting, loving, praying and being there for her father day in and day out when she couldn't be. And most of all, she wishes to thank her father for being the most incredible, loving, funny, father, pop pop, uncle and friend. His presence will be missed, but his life was well-lived. Your fight is over, Dad, and you are now with those who went before us. Forever loved and cherished. We love you.
