It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden death of Merrit Robert Davis of Miramichi, which occurred on August 22, 2026, at the age of 68.
He will be greatly missed by his wife, Elizabeth (Astle) Davis of Millerton; his children, April Davis (Todd) of Miramichi, and Lee Davis (Carla) of Brampton, ON; his parents, Bobby Davis and Willa Cramm of Saint John; his sister, Cheryl Buckley of Saint John; his granddaughter, Ava Davis; as well as several aunts, nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Robert was predeceased by his brother, Bradley Davis (Teri Lee).
To say that Robert enjoyed his life to the fullest would be an understatement. He was a red seal chef, where he made his living at the Atlantic Institution. He continued that passion after retirement, which he liked to call “The Singing Chef Café”. He was an active member in his church community as well as a past Legion president. Robert loved playing music, both at the church with his Aunt Anna Arsenault, and with his friends at various senior homes and jams. He loved to travel with his wife, camping, cruising, and biking with his prized Harley. He also loved fishing early mornings on the Miramichi River. His little dog Tito was his loyal companion.
Visitation will take place at Northumberland Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, from 2 pm to 4 pm and 6 pm to 8 pm. The funeral service will be held at Boom Road Pentecostal Church on Thursday, August 27, 2026, at 2 pm, with Pastor Jody Holmes officiating. Interment will take place in Boom Road Cemetery.
As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to Boom Road Pentecostal Church or to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 10.
Family would like to thank the EMT and the staff at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital for their kindness and compassion, especially the nursing supervisor, Nancy, for staying with the family during this difficult time.
