Paul Sutherland

Paul Frederick Sutherland, of Strathadam, passed away peacefully at the Miramichi Regional Hospital, surrounded by his family, on Sunday, April 16, 2023, at the age of 89.
Born in Red Bank, he was the son of the late Millar and Mary Sutherland. He worked as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic prior to his retirement, and was a past member of United Steel Workers Local 5319.
He will be greatly missed by his special friend Helen McKenzie of Strathadam; two sons Calvin Sutherland (Loretta) of Sunny Corner and Rodger Sutherland of Toronto, ON; three grandchildren Julia, Dallas, and Andrew; four great grandchildren Anson, Lily Ann, Finn, and JR; Helen's daughter, Lilla Matchett (Ronnie) and their two sons James and Jeffrey Matchett; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Annie Lou (McAllister) Sutherland; son John Sutherland; infant son Orville Sutherland; brothers Millar "Buddy" and John "Jackie"; and sister Betty Hubbard.
The family will receive relatives and friends from Northumberland Funeral Home, on Tuesday, April 18, 2023, from 5 to 8 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 19, 2023, at 11 am, from St James Roman Catholic Church, in Sevogle, with Father Dan Melanson officiating. Interment will take place in the church cemetery at a later date.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Kris, Dr. Kruger, Dr. Abdelsalm, and Dr. Black. Thank you to the Paramedics and Extra Mural Staff for the care and compassion provided to Paul, and to Jimmy Lawlor and everyone who came to visit with Paul during his illness.
As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to a memorial of one's choice.
