  • Murdock Nicholson, of Barnaby, passed away on Saturday, March 3, 2018, at the Miramichi Regional Hospital, at the age of 73.

    Born in Chelmsford, he was the son of the late Ambrose and Janie (Buggie) Nicholson. He worked as a plumber and pipefitter and retired from the Atlantic Institution. He was a member of Local 799 and Local 0019. Murdock enjoyed playing darts, hunting, fishing, and bowling. He also loved his animals, especially horses.

    He is survived by his loving companion Debbie (Howe) Lavoie; five daughters Lori Ann (Richard) of Moncton, Julie (Serge) of Richibucto, Angie (Colin) of Newfoundland, Janice (Walter) of Millerton, and Michelle (Troy) of Alberta; his son Matthew of Alberta; five sisters Marie, Betty, Beatrice, Louise, and Theresa; his brother John; 12 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

    Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his baby brother Lewis; two brothers Leo, and Lewis; and his two sisters Lucy and Edith.

    The family will receive relatives and friends from Northumberland Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 6, 2018, from 6 to 9 pm. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 7, 2018, from Northumberland Funeral Home Chapel, at 1 pm, with Rev. Willard Watling officiating.

    As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to the Miramichi SPCA.
