  • Mrs. Ruby Furlong, wife of the late Stanley Furlong, of Howard, passed away on Tuesday, September 15, 2009, at the Miramichi Hospital, at the age of 85.

    Born in Howard, she was the daughter of the late Jack and Elizabeth Brophy. She was a homemaker and attended Our Lady of Mount Carmel Roman Catholic Church, in Howard.

    Ruby is survived by two daughters Noreen Lobban (David) of Miramichi, and Ann Doucette (Euclide) of Howard; eight sons Clyde of Howard, John (Florine) of Howard, Wallace (June) of Howard, Louis (Joy) of Doaktown, James of Howard, Billy (Theresa) of Howard, Stephen (Mariette) of South Esk, and Richard (Lorenda) of Doaktown; one sister Enunciata (Henry) of Howard; as well as several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

    Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Stanley Furlong, one son Wayne, one brother Clyde Brophy, and one sister Elsie Brophy.

    The family will receive relatives and friends at Father AA McKinnon Memorial Room, in Blackville, on Thursday, September 17, 2009 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, September 18, 2009, from Our Lady of Mount Carmel, in Howard, at 10 am, with Father Vincent Donovan officiating.
