  • Mrs. Martha Burns, wife of the late Wilton Edward Burns, of Derby, formerly of Blackville, passed away on Monday, July 20, 2009, at the home of her daughter Ann Kelly, at the age of 97.

    Born in Blissfield, she was the daughter of the late James and Theresa (Colford) Nolais. Martha was a homemaker and attended St Raphael's Roman Catholic Church, in Blackville. She was a member of the Senior Citizens, and an honorary member of C.W.L.

    Martha is survived by two daughters Ann (Gene Kelly) of Derby, and Marie (Gerald Donovan) of Riverview; one son Edward (Hilda) of Miramichi; two brothers Crumley of Renous, and Raymond (Vivian) of Fredericton; seven grandchildren Cheryl Donovan White, Kevin Donovan, Joanne Freeze, Brenda Waye, John Burns, Lisa Kelly Lubas, and Lana Kelly; seven great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

    Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Wilton Edward; one infant son Donald; one sister Viola Colford; and one brother John Nolais.

    The family will receive relatives and friends at Father AA McKinnon Memorial Room, in Blackville, on Wednesday, July 22, 2009, from 7 to 9, and on Thursday, July 23, 2009 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, July 24, 2009, at 11 am, from St Raphael's Roman Catholic Church, in Blackville, with Father Vincent Donovan officiating.

    As expression of sympathy, donations may be made to St Raphael's Cemetery Fund or to a memorial of ones choice would be appreciated by the family.
