  • Mr. Earl Johnston, of Moncton and formerly of Tabusintac, passed away at the Dr. Georges –L- Dumont Hospital on Tuesday January 8, 2008 at the age of 91.

    Born in Tabusintac, he was the son of the late James Wm. and Ella Mae (Hornibrook) Johnston. He taught at the New Brunswick Community College in Moncton for 28 years. He served in the Second World War with the R. C. A. F. He was a member of the Mountain View United Church in Moncton and also a member of St. Andrew’s United Church in Tabusintac. Earl was a member of the Keith #23 Masonic Lodge.

    He is survived by one daughter Heather of Moncton; one sister Elva Avery(late Leonard) of Moncton; brothers Arthur (late Vicki Badducke) of Lower Coverdale, N.B. and James (Sandi) of B.C.;brothers-in-law Alfred Blake and Graydon Marshall and numerous nieces and nephews.

    Besides his wife Geraldine (Beattie) Johnston, he was predeceased by brothers Harry (Dorothy Smythe) and Winson; sisters Emma Mackenzie (Ross), Violet (Cooper Knowles, Tom Jackson) Jackson, Agnes (Basil Ross) Marshall, Reta (Buddy MacDonald) Blake and Janet Shaw (Harold).



    The family will receive relatives and friends at St. Andrew’s United Church in Tabusintac on Thursday January 10, 2008 from 7 to 9. The funeral service will be held on Friday January 11, 2008 at St. Andrew’s United Church in Tabusintac at 2pm with Rev. J. D. Kennedy officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery later in the spring. As expression of sympathy donations may be made to St. Andrew’s United Church in Tabusintac, the Tabusintac Nursing Home or to the Heart & Stroke Foundation. The funeral arrangements are in the care of Northumberland Funeral Home, 102 Pleasant St. telephone 622-7741.
