Miramichi

Medora Marie LeBlanc, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 15, 2023, at the Miramichi Regional Hospital, at the age of 86. Born in Tracadie, NB, she was the daughter of the late Anthony Girouard and Mary Alice Girouard (Savoie).

Looking around the room, full of what some might call trash, are trinkets and treasures, each with their own tale to tell. The yellowing walls are adorned with the photos of family, friends, and ghosts from the past, which when looking in the faces, appear to speak.

Piles of fabric and yarn, and a sewing table that were once used to create toys for her children and blankets to keep them warm in the winter months, now collect dust. The closets filled with old towels, blankets, and clothes that will never be worn again. Many of them handed down, stitched, sewn, and repaired. The kitchen cupboards are stacked full of mismatched plates and dishes collected over the years, which were used to serve so many countless meals to her family.

The phone no longer rings, the TV is silent. The furniture sits empty, the shades have been pulled and the lights are dark. This space will soon be vacant, cleaned and painted and made ready for the next who will call this their home. What was once occupied by a woman who was a loving wife, a mother of three, and herself a child, from a family of eight is now gone.

She was a good Mother. (Written by her son John Paul)

She will be greatly missed by her children Elsie (LeBlanc) McEvoy of Miramichi, John Paul LeBlanc of Barrie, Ontario, and Frank LeBlanc Jr of Hamilton, Ontario; Her sister Evelyn Girouard of Thunder Bay, Ontario; 5 grandchildren Kathleen of Dundas, Ontario, Jason, Derek of Toronto, Ontario, Nikki of Brantford Ontario, and Ashley of Kitchener, Ontario; 4 great grandchildren Chloe of Toronto, Ontario, Nevaeh, Myia, and Arianna of Brantford, Ontario, Tucker and Brooklyn of Kitchener, Ontario; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Frank LeBlanc; sisters Victoria Conlin and Teresa Brideau; brothers Edward Girouard and Stafford (Octave) Girouard.

In keeping with her wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service.

As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to The Miramichi Emergency Women's Shelter.
