  • It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Mary Martha (Taylor) Singleton at the Miramichi Regional Hospital early Tuesday morning, September 14, 2021, at the age of 75.

Born in Miramichi, May 12, 1946, she was the daughter of the late Alvin and Margaret (Hanley) Taylor.

She will be greatly missed by her partner Reginald MacTavish; two daughters Lorie Ann (Darren Richard and daughter Olivia) of Miramichi and Wendy (Ian Fortune, and children Jesse and Taylor) of Blackville; son Terry Singleton (Julie, and children Joshua and Leah) of Fredericton; sister Sheila Ann (Jack Lowe) of Miramichi; three brothers Harvey "Bud" (Vera) of Miramichi, Raymond (Donna) of Ajax, ON, and Alban "Al" (Margaret) of Miramichi; sister-in-law Shirley Taylor of Miramichi; special cousin Arlene Taylor; and several nieces and nephews.

Mom cherished people and loved to have a good laugh with friends and co-workers, she never spoke poorly of anyone, and cherished her children and grandchildren.

Mom’s career was wide ranging, from doing Census from Upper Blackville to Newcastle, selling Avon, cooking at Stedmans, The Met, The Lo-Tide, and Kingsway restaurants, to name a few, and boy could she cook, best Roast beef and gravy around. But these were all jobs in buildings, it was the co-workers that she always spoke of, and the fun they had, and I have to say, Mom would be the Commander and Chief of this entertainment.

Moms last career change was homecare, she sat with elderly people, many with dementia and talked and cared for their every need, she had a huge soft heart. Mom passed with her youngest daughter and Guardian Angel lying beside her, Lorie.

So please share a story or memory of Mary and most of all she would want everyone to be kind to each other.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her former husband Edward Singleton; and brothers Elmer, Lawrence, Paul and Fred.

The family will receive relatives and friends from Northumberland Funeral Home on Saturday, September 18, 2021, from 12 pm to 1:45 pm. The funeral service will follow at 2 pm with Father Antonio Reyes officiating.

As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to a memorial of one's choice.

Funeral arrangements are in the care of Northumberland Funeral Home, 102 Pleasant St, telephone (506) 622-7741
