Mary Theresa MacCallum

It is with great sadness that the family of Mary Theresa MacCallum, formerly of Newcastle, NB, announces her sudden passing on May 18, 2026, at the Miramichi Regional Hospital at the age of 70.

Born in Newcastle, she was the daughter of the late George and Marguerite (McDonnell) Connick of Craigville, NB.

She will be greatly missed by her loving daughter Terri McNeill (David) of Fredericton, NB and grandsons: Logan and Cole McNeill. Mary is survived by three sisters: Carolyn Doyle (late Ronnie), Anne Trevors (Carmen) and Carmeline McMahon (late Rance Smallwood), as well as her nieces: Marie Doyle, Rhonda Trevors and Heather Banks and nephews: Jeremy McMahon, Greg Trevors and Sean MacCallum.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brother Greg Connick.

Mary’s greatest joy in life was her two grandsons.

She was happiest and most content when she was in the gazebo with her sisters and Carmen, listening to the blue transistor radio. She was a wonderful Grammy. Her unwavering love for her grandchildren should serve as an example for us all. She was quick to find cookies or other treats and was skilled at passing $5 bills to the boys. Every wall featured pictures of her favourite boys.

Mary enjoyed and excelled in caring for others as an LPN in a career spanning more than thirty years at the former Newcastle Hospital and later at the Miramichi Regional Hospital.

The family invites relatives and friends to join them for a funeral service to be celebrated on Friday, May 22nd, 2026, at Northumberland Funeral Home Chapel at 1 pm with Father Dan Bastarache officiating. Interment will take place in St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Cemetery in Nelson-Miramichi.

As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to the Diabetes Association or to a memorial of one’s choice.
