  • Mary Elizabeth "Betty" Pauline Gerrish, of Upper Derby, passed away on Sunday, April 11, 2021, at the Miramichi Regional Hospital, at the age of 79.

    Born in Bathurst, she was the daughter of the late Burns and Jocelyn "Joey" (Chamberlain) White. She was a homemaker and a Life Member of the United Church of Canada. She was also a member of the U.C.W., Girl Guides, Trefoil Guild, Derby Card Club, and the Derby Seniors.

    Betty was an avid gardener with several flower gardens and many species and plants that she loved to share with friends and visitors.

    She will be greatly missed by her husband Glen Gerrish; two daughters Alison (Dana Sullivan) of Upper Derby and Gillian (Aidan Closs) of Toronto, ON; one brother Patrick James of Kingston, ON; daughter-in-law Holly Gerrish of Calgary, AB; five grandchildren Sarah (Tony Nguyen), Lindsay (Sebastien Gregoire), Laura, Carly (Kayle Nelson) and Duncan; four great grandchildren Max, Sawyer, Raiden, and Chloe; as well as several nieces and nephews.

    Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her son Mark Gerrish.

    At the family's request, there will be no visitation. A graveside celebration will take place at St Mark's Cemetery, Quarryville, once Covid-19 restrictions are lifted.

    The family would like to extend thanks to the staff and nurses on 2 East and on 4 East and Dr. Rambaran for the kind and exceptional care given to Betty and the family in her time of need.

    In Betty's memory, donations made to St Mark's Cemetery Fund would be appreciated by the family.
