  • Marlene Theresa (McAllister) Geikie, of Miramichi, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, October 14, 2018, at the age of 65 surrounded by her four beautiful daughters and her loving partner Wayne.

    Born in Miramichi, she was the daughter of the late Flemming and Veronica (McLean) McAllister.

    She was adored and will be greatly missed by Wayne Blakely; four daughters Mindi Schenkels (Jason Brennan), Melissa Urquhart (Randy), Michelle O’Neill (Shannon) all of Miramichi, and Megan Geikie of Saint John, Three sisters Agnes Trevors (Reggie) of Miramichi, Veronica-Jean Blair (Jack) of Winnipeg, and Joanne White (Keith) of Summerville; seven brothers Donald McAllister (Ardie), Bernard McAllister (Amy), Vaughn McAllister (Nancy), Allan McAllister (Patsy) all of Miramichi, Sterling McAllister and Joe McAllister (Marg) both of Ontario, and Gerald McAllister of Port Elgin; Six brothers-in-law George Geikie, Vince Geikie (Gay), Elmer Blakely (Judy), Guy Blakely (Debbie), Gary Blakely, Byron Blakely Jr (Laura); Four sisters-in-law Eileen Harding (Colin), Susan Geikie, Sharon Geikie, and Heather Dawn Blakely. Her eight grandchildren were her pride and joy. She was a cherished and loving Nana to Austin and Ashlyn Urquhart, Willem, Kassia, and Hendrik Schenkels, and Madison, Spencer, and Mason O’Neill; and beloved by numerous nieces and nephews.

    Besides her parents, Marlene was predeceased by her husband Blaine Geikie; five sisters Patricia, Beverly, Denise, Eleanor, and Linda; her brother Jack; her sister-in-law Winnie McAllister; and her brother-in-law Bill Murray.

    The family will receive relatives and friends from Northumberland Funeral Home, on Wednesday, October 17, 2018, from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm.

    Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, October 18, 2018, at 11 am, from Saint Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church, Nelson, with Father Arnie Hachey officiating.

    As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to the Extra Mural Program, Heart and Stroke Foundation, or to the Canadian Cancer Society.
