It is with deep sorrow that the family of Margaret (O’Hearn) Flynn shares the news of her peaceful passing on Thursday, April 30, 2026, at the Miramichi Regional Hospital, at the age of 87.
Margaret was born in Chatham to the late David James and Mable Catherine (Cook) O’Hearn. Throughout her life, Margaret brought dedication and warmth to everything she did. In her earlier years, she worked as a server and a shorthand cook at the Radar Base in Saint Margaret’s, the Texaco Restaurant and the Portage Restaurant. She touched many lives with her kindness and service. Later, she continued in food services at Miramichi Seniors Home. Margaret was also a devoted member of Saint Margaret’s Roman Catholic Church, where her faith was a guiding force in her life.
Her children will deeply miss Margaret’s loving spirit and mischievous grin: Catherine Reynolds (Ken) of Berry Mills, Bernice McShane (Mark) of North Bay, ON, Joan March (Bruce) of Saint John, Patrick Flynn (April) of Redmondville, Gerard Flynn (Alana) of Moncton, and Andy Flynn (Stacey) of Redmondville. She was a proud grandmother to Kolton, Kyle, Chrissy, Tiffany, Allison, Rachel, Darcie, Myles, Sam, Shanice, Riley, Josh, Arminda, and Sarah, and a cherished great-grandmother to Mercer, Kalvin, Logan, Luc, Garrett, Jaxx, Scarlett, and Everett. Margaret is also fondly remembered by her many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, William “Billy” Flynn; her daughter, Audrey Flynn; her sister, Mary Cook (late Clarence); and her parents.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at the visitation on Monday, May 4, 2026, from 5 pm to 8 pm at Northumberland Funeral Home, Newcastle, NB. A funeral service to celebrate Margaret’s life will be held at St. Margaret’s Roman Catholic Church on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at 11 am, with Father John Fraser officiating.
As expressions of sympathy, donations in Margaret’s memory can be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or to Saint Margaret's Cemetery Fund.
Margaret’s life was a testament to kindness, dedication, and love. She will be dearly missed and forever remembered.
