Manning Jay, 77, of Riverview and formerly of Moncton passed away at Kenneth E. Spencer Memorial Home, Moncton, on Thursday, March 24, 2016. Born in Pisquid, PEI, he was the son of the late Kenneth and Ida (Birt) Jay.
He retired with 35 years’ service having worked as Assistant Superintendent of the CNR Car Department. He was a member and served St. John's United Church in many capacities including the Senior and Men's Chorus and as an active volunteer and board member of the Karing Kitchen. An was an avid golfer and dancer ,a former member of Magnetic Hill Golf and Country Club and Charlie's Angels Round Dance Club.
Manning was very much a family man and friend to all that knew him, he will be fondly remembered by his loving wife of 56 years Kathryn Jay; his children Heather Jay of Riverview, Lorne Jay (Jacqueline) of Miramichi and Karen Buck (Gordon) of Sussex, NB; his grandchildren Kattie Benoit, Amy (Corey) Shaddick, Erin, Nic, Abbie and Alex Jay, Laura , Michael and Susan Buck; two great grandchildren Ellie and Norah Shaddick; three brothers Carmen (Audrey) of Oakville, ON., Rev. Leslie (Gail) of Winsloe, PEI and Lynwood (Martha) of Stratford, PEI; a sister-in-law Marg Jay of ON; a brother-in-law Doug Cormie (Monique) of MB; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by a brother Glendon and infant brother Preston.
Resting at Tuttle Brothers & Riverview Funeral Home, 214 Pine Glen Rd. Riverview with visitation Monday, March 28, 2016 from 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm.
The Funeral service will be held at Tuttle Brothers and Riverview Funeral Home Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at 1:30pm with Rev. Aaron Billard officiating.
Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Moncton at a later date.
Donations in Manning's memory made to the St. John's United Church Memorial Fund, the Karing Kitchen, or to the Friends of the Moncton Hospital Foundation would be appreciated by his family.
