  • Lulu Somers, wife of the late Harry Somers, of Mount Saint Joseph Nursing Home, and formerly of Millerton, passed away on Sunday, April 3, 2016, at the age of 97.
    Born in Cassilis, NB on January 2, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Marshall and Arabella (Mullin) Bryenton.
    Lulu was a homemaker, devoted wife and loving mother. She will be remembered for her artistic abilities as a painter, excellent knitter and seamstress, as well as her fantastic cuisine. Bowling was one of her favourite activities until the age of 85.
    Lulu was a committed Christian and a member of the Boom Road Pentecostal Church.
    Lulu was predeceased by her husband Harry and grandson Aaron. She was also predeceased by her brothers Billy (Jenny), Charlie, Leslie, Kenneth, and Carl Bryenton, as well as her sisters Beatrice (Newt) Johnstone, Blanch (Hugh) Somers, and Kay (Earl) McKenna.
    Lulu will be sadly missed by her daughters Ruth (Melvin) Brisebois of Kanata, ON, and Dianne Bishop of Ottawa, ON, and her son Richard of Miramichi, as well as her brothers Jack (Eveline) of Cassilis and Jarvis (Susie) of Boom Road.
    Lulu was grandmother to Wayne (Laura Lee) Bishop of Kanata, ON, Tanya (Keiren) Court of Toronto, ON, Michel (Jennifer) Brisebois, Sonya (Kris) Brooks of Delta, BC, as well as Andrew and Andrea Somers of Halifax, NS.
    Lulu was also great grandmother to Leah and Lauren Bishop of Kanata, ON, Addison and Ella Brooks of Delta, BC, Ben and Anna Brisebois of Carleton Place, ON, as well as Arianna and Kaiden Somers of Airdrie, AB, and Arika Brown of Halifax, NS.
    Lulu is resting at Northumberland Funeral Home, 102 Pleasant St, Miramichi, with visitation taking place Wednesday, April 6, 2016, from 7 to 9 pm. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 7, 2016, at 2 pm, from the Boom Road Pentecostal Church, with Pastor Harold Luff officiating.
    Reception to follow after the funeral service.
    Lulu’s family would like to thank the staff of Mount Saint Joseph Nursing Home for the love and excellent care given to their mother during her three year stay at the home.
    In Lulu’s memory, as expressions of sympathy, donations can be made to the Mount Saint Joseph Nursing Home, 51 Lobban Ave, Miramichi, NB.
