Ludger "Jut" Joseph Martin, of Baie-Sainte-Anne, passed away peacefully at Percy's Place on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at the age of 80.
Born in Baie-Sainte-Anne, he was the son of the late Elise and Roy Martin. He was a fisherman and a survivor of the Escuminac disaster. He was also a member of Sainte-Anne's Roman Catholic Church.
He will be greatly missed by his daughter, Pauline Martin-Tenass of Miramichi and his chosen children, Jeannine Robichaud of Miramichi, Irma Lambroo (Gus) of New York, Mervin Martin (Jason), Lucien Martin (June), Albert Martin all of Baie-Sainte-Anne, and Marcel Martin of Toronto; sisters, Carmel McIntyre (Bill) and Edna Lirette (Late Abel) both of Baie-Sainte-Anne; brothers, Simeon Martin (Therese), Vernon Martin (Edwina), Zoel Martin (Réjeanne), Donat Martin (Jacqueline), and Wilbert Martin all of Baie-Sainte-Anne; sister-in-law Cora Martin of Baie-Sainte-Anne; his precious granddaughter, Lindsey Tenass, many grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his longtime partner, Christine Martin; daughters, Suzanne Ramsay and Marie-Paule Martin; brother Sylvio Martin; and sister Louisa Bransfield (Late Billy).
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of East Side Special Care Home, especially Geraldine, as well as the staff at Bridgeview Hall, for the exceptional care and kindness shown to Ludger over the years. Heartfelt thanks are also extended to Dr. Gerard Losier and the staff at Percy’s Place for their compassion and for the care and comfort they provided to Ludger and his family.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at Soeur Blandine Martin Slumber Room on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, from 2 pm to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at 11 am, at Église Sainte-Anne Roman Catholic Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to Percy's Place or to a memorial of one's choice.
