Lucy Ella Rice

Beloved wife, mother, Nana, sister, sister-in-law, mother-in-law, step-mother, step-grandmother, aunt and friend.

Lucy was predeceased by her parents, Hiram Smith and Barbara Smith (Jardine); and her siblings Burton (late Bernie), Frank (late Marina), Sterling (late Joan), Robert, Jack, Beverly, Margaret Johnstone (late Paul), Diann Johnson (late Garnet), June MacTavish (late Don), and Joan.

She will be forever missed and always lovingly remembered by her husband, George Rice of Mount Hope, Ontario; her daughters, Alison Larsen McSorley (Wes) of Cape Cod, Massachusetts, and Andrea Larsen (Mario Boccia) of Mississauga, Ontario; and her cherished granddaughters, Shannon McSorley and Alexandra King (Dillan).

Her absence will also be deeply felt by her siblings, Gloria Johnstone (late Bart) of Red Bank; Faye Gilks (Edward) of South Esk; and Delbert (Faye) of Derby.

Lucy also leaves behind her beloved “bonus family,” including her brothers-in-law, Edward Rice (Cheryl) of Ontario and Paul Rice (late Nancy) of Ontario; her step-sons, Barclay Rice (Lisa), Gregory Rice (Heidi) and G. Matthew Rice (Betzy); and her step-daughter, Jennifer St. Pierre (Paul).

She will be lovingly remembered by her step-grandchildren, Sarah and Andrew; Nathan, Brennen, Marilyn, Rozilyn, and Jaclyn; and Rose and Kevin.

She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, as well as family and relatives who were part of her life throughout the years.

A funeral service will be held at Northumberland Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, August 24, 2026, at 11 am, with Rev. Perry Cooper officiating. Interment will take place in the Miramichi Cemetery.
