  • Lois Boland, of Miramichi, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 18, 2021, at the Miramichi Regional Hospital, at the age of 76.
     
    Born in newcastle, she was the daughter of Mabel (Lumsden) Matchett and the late Frederick Matchett. She worked as a Registered Nurse until her retirement and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She was also the Past President of The Nurses Alumni and she volunteered many hours at the Miramichi Senior Citizens Home.

    Lois was a life long learner. She was always taking courses and while working as a Registered Nurse she also received her Bachelor of Business Administration degree.
     
    She will be greatly missed by her mother Mabel; her two sons Robert Fogan of Amherst, NS, and Ian Fogan (Vicky) of Saint John; her daughter Tina (Dan kennedy) of Sydney, NS; four sisters Linda Sobey (Arnold) of Maple Glenn, Joan MacDonald of Black River, Bunny Morris (Alvin) of Manitoba, and Wendy Hamilton of Miramichi; four brothers Victor Matchett, Lloyd Matchett (Debbie), Ronald Matchett (June) and Donald Matchett (Penny) all of Miramichi;  nine grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Lois was also survived by special friends John Hachey, Joleen Matchett and their daughter Isabelle (Belle) Hachey who have been part of the family for over 20 years. Thank you for being such great caregivers to Mom.
     
    Besides her father, she was predeceased by her first husband John Fogan and her second husband Melvin Boland; daughter-in-law Jessi Fogan; sister Rosalie; and brothers Lawson, Gordon, and Timothy.
     
    Due to Covid-19 restrictions, there will be no visitation or funeral service. A graveside service will take place in Miramichi Cemetery at a later date.
     
    As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to the Nurses Alumni Scholarship Fund.
