Lloyd David Carter

Jul 1, 1948 — Jul 17, 2026

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our dad, Lloyd David Carter, who passed away peacefully on Friday, July 17, 2026, at the Miramichi Regional Hospital at the age of 78. He was born on July 1, 1948 and was the son of the late Melbourne and Florence (Rhoda) Carter.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Suzanne; his in-laws Lee and Abigail Holmes; and his brother-in-law Al Mullin.

Dad worked hard, laughed often, and found happiness in being surrounded by the people he loved. Above all else, he was a devoted husband, a loving father, grandfather, brother, and friend. His greatest joy came from being behind the wheel of a big rig, a place where he felt most at home. For close to 60 years, the open road wasn’t just his career-it was part of who he was. Every mile gave him purpose, adventure, and countless stories that he loved to share.

He is lovingly remembered by his caring and devoted wife June (Holmes); his children Robbie and Ian of Fredericton, Jodi (Ray) Sobey of Miramichi, and Lisa (Jay) Foster of Powhatan, Virginia; his grandchildren Jordan, Jennica, Jeremiah (Marylène), Autumn, Chase, Tyler and Caitlin; his siblings Paul (Nadine) and Wayne (Michael); his sister-in-law, Leanne Mullin; brother-in-law, Robert Holmes; many nieces and nephews; and countless dear friends.

Though our hearts are heavy with his passing, they are also filled with gratitude-for the life he lived, the love he shared, and the countless memories he gave us. We will carry his lessons, laughter and gentle spirit with us always.

A graveside service celebrating Dad’s life and legacy will be held on Saturday, August 15th, at 2:00 p.m. at Boom Road Presbyterian Cemetery (1516 NB-425, Boom Road, NB). Reception to follow at Tuadook Village Community Centre (2282 NB-420, Sillikers, NB).

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Extra-Mural Program, the Sunny Corner Fire Department or St. James Presbyterian Church, if desired.

Loved beyond words, missed beyond measure, and carried in our hearts forever.

Funeral arrangements are in the care of Northumberland Funeral Home & Crematorium, 102 Pleasant St, telephone (506) 622-7741.
