  • It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lanny Kildaire Myles on March 24, 2015 at the Miramichi Regional Hospital. Lanny was born on March 29, 1939 in Campbellton, NB, the son of Trueman and Ila (Dobson) Myles.
Lanny retired in 1997 as a CNR Police Inspector after a 10 year career in the Air Force and 26 years with the Canadian National Railways Police Force. During his time in the Air Force he was stationed in Borden ON; Monction, NB; Metz, France; and Chatham, NB. He spent 18 years with the Saint John, NB CNR Police Force before being transferred to Halifax, NS where he was promoted to Inspector. While working in Saint John he also simultaneously held the position of Treasurer and then President of the Canadian CNR Police Association, where he often argued Labour Relations cases. This a position at which he excelled and greatly enjoyed.
Lanny is survived by his wife of 52 years, Eileen (Keays) Myles; daughter Nancy (Steven) Godkin of Stratford, PEI; son Richard (Laura) Myles of Miramichi, NB; sisters Sharon (Reg) McGrath of Miramichi, NB; and Starlene (Paul) Stewart of Ottawa, ON, Sisters-in-laws Denise Myles of Ottawa, ON and Patricia Cunningham of Pointe-a-la-Garde, QE; and his “Upper Canadian” cousin Harry (Sharon) Lines. Several nieces and nephews, one of which is his special “backroad” adventure buddy, Peter McGrath. He also leaves behind his beloved furry companion Duke, by whom he will greatly missed, and his very special neighbours, Ed and Phyl Young.
Besides his parents, he was pre-deceased by his sister Carolyn Myles brothers Bernard (September, 2013) and George “Bub” Myles (April, 2014) sister in law Margaret (Keays) Myles in 2015 and niece Carolyn (McGrath) Brideau.
