Kim Stephen Bateman

With heavy hearts, the family of Kim Stephen Bateman announces his peaceful passing at the Miramichi Regional Hospital on June 19, 2025, at the age of 70. He was surrounded by loved ones in his final moments.

Born in Miramichi, Kim was the son of the late Joseph and Ruth (Loughery) Bateman. He was a hardworking and dependable man, dedicating over 30 years to UPM Kymmene. He later worked out West with PACER and Greenfield, and most recently with Delway Enterprises.

Kim was known for his gentle spirit, quiet nature, and remarkable talent for fixing just about anything. Always ready to lend a helping hand—often before it was even asked—he was someone people could always count on. His greatest joy came from his grandchildren, and nothing brought him more happiness than spending time with them.

Kim will be deeply missed by his children, Joey (Colleen) of Prince Edward Island and Tania (Trent) of Fredericton, and by his beloved grandchildren: Ayla, Brynlee, and Owen.

He is survived by his sisters: Helen Bateman of Saint John, Joanie Driscoll (Mike) of Miramichi, and Tammy Bateman and Vicky Bateman, both of Millerton; and by his brothers: Ronnie Bateman (Laurine) of Millerton, Gary Bateman (Sharon) of Lower Derby, Billy Bateman of Miramichi, and Kevin Deon (Katherine) of Fredericton. He is also remembered by his sister-in-law, Helen Bateman, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Kim was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Ruth Bateman; his infant brother Darrel; and his brother Lew Bateman.

In keeping with his wishes, there will be no public visitation. A private service to celebrate Kim’s life will be held for family and close friends at a later date.
