Katherine (Kathy) Marlene (Palmer) Augustine, of Eel Ground, passed away on Monday, March 6, 2017, at the Miramichi Regional Hospital, at the age of 53.

Born in Miramichi, she was the daughter of Sadie (Trevors) Palmer and the late George Ivan Palmer. Kathy was the Director of Human Resources for Eel Ground First Nation and a member of St Joachim's Roman Catholic Church.

She will be greatly missed by her husband Duane Augustine; son Matthew Robert (Meredith) of Miramichi; two daughters Sarah Jane (Tyson Cooper) of Miramichi and Erin Agnes (Jonathan Mahar) of Saint John; brother Stephen Palmer of Greenwood, NS; four grandchildren Gia, Russell, Jaida, Amelia, and future baby Mahar; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was also the sister-in-law of Regional Chief Roger Augustine and Chief George Ginnish.

The family will receive relatives and friends from their home, 41 Riverview Rd East, Eel Ground, on Wednesday, March 8, 2017, from 1 to 4 pm and 6 to 10 pm, and on Thursday, March 9, 2017, from 1 to 4 pm and 6 to 10 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 10, 2017, at 2 pm, from St Joachim's Roman Catholic Church.

As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
