June Barbara MacTavish

June Barbara (Smith) MacTavish passed away peacefully on August 11, 2025, at the Miramichi Regional Hospital. 

Born on June 27, 1935, in Warwick Settlement, she was the daughter of the late Hiram and Barbara (Jardine) Smith.

June worked as a sales clerk at Eaton's before retiring from Sears, where she was a favourite among customers and colleagues. As a social butterfly, June always remembered everyone she met. She adored spending time outdoors, whether engaging in yard work or taking long walks. Her passion for travel, particularly in her beloved truck camper, led her and her husband, Don, on many memorable camping adventures. June also had a fondness for collecting dishes, especially china.

Together with Donald, June was looking forward to celebrating their 70th wedding anniversary on August 27th, a testament to their unwavering love and commitment to one another.

She is survived by her loving husband, Donald MacTavish of Miramichi; sisters, Gloria Johnston of Cassiliss, Lucy Rice (George) of Mount Hope, ON, and Faye Gilks (Edward) of South Esk; brother, Delbert Smith (Faye) of Derby; sisters-in-law, Catherine Hill (Carroll) of Sussex, Irma Gray (Late David) of Moncton, and Carolyn Thurber (Randy) of Salisbury; brother-in-law, Robert MacTavish (Late Elsie) of Moncton; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

June was predeceased by her parents; brothers, Burton (Late Bernie), Frank (Late Marina), Sterling (Late Joan), Robert; and sisters, Margaret Johnstone (Late Paul), Diann Johnson (Late Garnet).

Visitation will be held at Northumberland Funeral Home on Friday, August 15, 2025, from 6 to 8 pm. The funeral service will take place at Northumberland Funeral Home Chapel, on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at 11 am, with Pastor Matthew Porter officiating. Interment will take place in Miramichi Cemetery.

As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to the Calvary Baptist Church, Shriners Hospital, or to a memorial of one's choice.
