Joseph Alban Morris

Joseph Alban Morris passed away on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, (4:20 pm) at the Miramichi Regional Hospital at the age of 93.

Born in Lugar, NB, he was the son of the late Gérard and Marie-Rose (Haché) Morris.

He will be greatly missed by his daughters, Anne-Marie (Gordon King) of Beaverbrook, Jacqueline (Kevin Trevors) of Beaverbrook, Lucianna MacArthur of Saint John, Jacelyne Morris of Beaverbrook, Monique (Christopher Ellis) of Beaverbrook, and Suzie (Eddie Stewart) of Strathadam; his son, Jean-Guy (Carolyn Morris) of Beaverbrook; his sisters, Mélanie of Petit-Rocher, Marie-Rose (Lucien) of Beresford, Émilia of Dunlop, Léona (Léo Bélanger) of Saskatchewan, and Lydia (Norman Gallant) of Petit-Rocher; his brother, Yvon (Yvonne Morris) of Beaverbrook; sister-in-law, Jeannine Morris (Léo) of Miramichi; eight grandchildren, Daniella, Jean-Yves, Jeremy, Olivia, Stéphane, Alexandria, Emilia, and Vander; nine great-grandchildren, Marisa, Maxime, Evangéline, Adélaïde, Joseph, Janessa, Clair, Cameron, and Isla; as well as several nieces and nephews he always loved seeing and hearing about.

Besides his parents, he is predeceased by his wife, Marie-Thérèse (Austin) Morris; his infant daughter, Marthe; brothers: Léo, Gérard, and Richard; and his sisters: Patricia Roy, Marie Tremblay, Bertha Roy (Valmore), and Yolande Bélanger; brothers-in-law: Léo, Jacques, Fabien, Fernand, Urbain, Ludger, and sisters-in-law: Cécile, Yvonne and Thérèse.

Visitation will take place at Northumberland Funeral Home on Sunday, August 16, 2026, from 2 pm to 4 pm and 6 pm to 8 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, August 17, 2026, at 11 am, at Paroisse de l'Ascension Roman Catholic Church, in Beaverbrook, with Father Antonio Reyes officiating. Interment will take place in the church cemetery.

The family would like to thank the staff of the Palliative Care (4 East) at the Miramichi Hospital for their excellent care of our father, and us, during this difficult time.

Thank you to the ER, 2nd floor, and Ambulance staff for their attentive care of dad. When he first arrived in the ER, we found him in a room, in bed, with his blankets cocooning him warmly. It was heartwarming to see because he was always cold due to his medications.

We also want to thank Dr. Gerard Losier for his visits and time spent explaining Dad's health care issues. Dad was always happy to see him.

We also want to thank Father Antonio Reyes for his visits to see Dad at the hospital; we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We know this gave him great comfort and peace.

Thank you also to everyone who visited Dad at the hospital during his illness. He appreciated every one of those visits and persons deeply. He was also grateful for every well wishes and prayers he received from family, friends, and old co-workers from both Heath Steele Mines and his time as a woodsman. He always enjoyed hearing from them and how they were doing.

A special thank you to our uncle Yvon and aunt Yvonne for their presence, support, and care during Dad's hospitalization, and especially on his last day. It will be forever cherished.

Dad once said that if he had to redo his life, he'd change nothing. He would choose the same wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, etc. He had no regrets whatsoever.

And as for us, we don't have any regrets either, because we couldn't have chosen a better father and mother. We were extremely lucky in the parents' lottery. Thank you mom and dad for a great life with so many happy memories, laughter, and love. You'd always put our needs first before your own making sure we were ok and felt loved and protected. May God keep you both close to Him while we wait to meet our beautiful parents again. On vous aime beaucoup Memin et Dedin!
