Joseph Albine "Benny" Breau

Joseph Albine "Benny" Breau, 77, of Miramichi, NB, passed away on June 14, 2025, at Horizon's Miramichi Regional Hospital, with his daughter Kathleen by his side. Benny was born on May 4, 1948, in Covedell, NB, to his parents Béatrice (Doiron) and Luc Breau.

Benny was a cherished Papa to Boyd (Bridget) and Luc (Brooke) and a " marvelous" Opa Benny to Juniper Rose. He is also survived by his son-in-law, David deLeeuw, best friends Erika Breau and David "Bear" Preiss. His sisters Yvonne (late Amand), Helene (late Freddie), Anna (Antoine), May (Venance), Emma (late Ronald); his brothers Edouard (late Lucie), Arthur (Marguerite), Adolphe (Victorinne), Gerard (Evangeline); Godfather to Jason (Maricel), Lisa (Adam), and Stephanie (Jonny); and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Also survived by his close friends Mike Meyer, Tom Kenny, Lenny Breau, David Savage, Collin Williston, Alison and Danny, Cristine and Werner (Napan Bakery), Nancy, Amy and the staff from Burger King.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Joseph (infant), Alphée and Albert; grandson Dominic (infant), and mother-in-law Sara Brantsch and father-in-law Andeas (Andy) Brantsch.

Benny moved to Ontario in 1968 to look for work, which eventually led him to start his own business, Benny's Car Cleaning, on September 13, 1975. Benny decided in 2018 to retire from his well-established business, and move back home to New Brunswick, however, Benny's Car Cleaning is still a very successful business running under the new owner Lee-Anne, whom Benny trained himself. When Benny was not working, he enjoyed collecting Coca-Cola memorabilia, making things out of wood, doing puzzles, word searches, and of course, driving his red Ford truck.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to all of his doctors, nurses, PSWs, and all other caregivers.

Kathleen would like to extend a special thank you to his niece Gisele Richard, whose unwavering support, care, and medical knowledge, and being her voice when she was unable to be there, for their uncle (brother) Benny.

A funeral mass will be held at St Bernard Roman Catholic Church in Neguac, on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at 11 am. As per Benny's wishes, there will be no visitation, and cremation will have taken place.

Joseph Albine "Benny" Breau, 77 ans, de Miramichi (N.-B.), est décédé le 14 juin 2025 à l’Hôpital régional de Miramichi, avec sa fille Kathleen à ses côtés. Benny est né le 4 mai 1948 à Covedell (N.-B.), fils de feu Béatrice (Doiron) et Luc Breau.

Benny était un Papa adoré de Boyd (Bridget) et Luc (Brooke), ainsi qu’un « merveilleux » Opa Benny pour Juniper Rose. Il laisse également dans le deuil son gendre David deLeeuw, ses meilleurs amis Erika Breau et David « Bear » Preiss; ses sœurs Yvonne (feu Amand), Hélène (feu Freddie), Anna (Antoine), May (Venance), Emma (feu Ronald); ses frères Édouard (feu Lucie), Arthur (Marguerite), Adolphe (Victorinne), Gérard (Évangéline); il était aussi parrain de Jason (Maricel), Lisa (Adam), et Stéphanie (Jonny), ainsi que de nombreux neveux, nièces et cousins.

Il laisse également dans le deuil ses amis proches Mike Meyer, Tom Kenny, Lenny Breau, David Savage, Collin Williston, Alison et Danny, Cristine et Werner (Napan Bakery), Nancy, Amy, ainsi que le personnel de Burger King.

Outre ses parents, il a été précédé dans la tombe par ses frères Joseph (en bas âge), Alphée et Albert; son petit-fils Dominic (en bas âge); ainsi que ses beaux-parents Sara et Andreas (Andy) Brantsch.

Benny a déménagé en Ontario en 1968 à la recherche de travail, ce qui l’a éventuellement mené à fonder sa propre entreprise, Benny's Car Cleaning, le 13 septembre 1975. En 2018, Benny a pris sa retraite de cette entreprise bien établie et est retourné s’installer au Nouveau-Brunswick. Cependant, Benny's Car Cleaning demeure une entreprise prospère sous la direction de la nouvelle propriétaire, Lee-Anne, que Benny a lui-même formée. Lorsqu’il ne travaillait pas, Benny aimait collectionner des objets Coca-Cola, fabriquer des objets en bois, faire des casse-têtes, des jeux de mots, et bien sûr, conduire son camion Ford rouge.

La famille souhaite exprimer sa sincère gratitude à tous ses médecins, infirmières, préposés aux soins personnels et autres aidants.

Kathleen tient à remercier tout particulièrement sa nièce Gisèle Richard pour son soutien indéfectible, ses soins attentionnés, ses connaissances médicales et pour avoir été sa voix lorsqu’elle ne pouvait pas être présente pour leur oncle (frère) Benny.

Une messe funéraire aura lieu à l’église St-Bernard à Neguac, le samedi 21 juin 2025 à 11 h. Selon les volontés de Benny, il n’y aura pas de visites, et la crémation aura eu lieu.
