John Furlong

John Stanley Furlong, of Howard Road, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 9, 2023, at the Miramichi Regional Hospital, at the age of 81.

Born in Howard, NB, he was the son of the late Stanley and Ruby Furlong. He was a retired forest worker, and an active member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Roman Catholic Church. He loved spending time outdoors and was an avid bird watcher and got great enjoyment feeding them.

He will be greatly missed by his wife Florine (Hollier) who he celebrated 59 beautiful years together. He was a proud father with seven children: Sharon Randall (Glenn), Michael Furlong (Karen), Perry Furlong, Timmy Furlong (Allison), Roxie Hickey (Allan), Sue Baldwin (Rob), and Cindy Twist (Ashley).

Johnny loved children and he looked forward to many visits from his grandchildren Steven, Natasha, Thomas, Kathy, Anthony, Brandon, Brooklynn, Ryan, Holly, Alex, Joe, Gwendolyn, Josie, and Jacob.  He was blessed to enjoy his great grandchildren Jesse, Declan, Wade, Donnie, Murphy, Clemmy, Caleb, Emily, Olivia, Aroura, Marcus, and Alicia.

He will also be sadly missed by many nieces and nephews and their children who always enjoyed spending time with their special Uncle Johnny.

He is survived by his siblings Clyde, Richard, James (Mary Sue), Billy (Theresa), Steven (Mariette), Noreen (David) Lobban, sister in law’s June and Joy, and brother-in-law Euclide Doucette.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brothers Wayne, Louis, Wallace; infant brother Calvin; sister Ann Doucette; sister-in-law’s Lorenda and Gloria and daughter in law Linda. 

The family will receive relatives and friends from St Raphael's Church Hall, in Blackville, on Friday, May 12, 2023, from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, May 13, 2023, at 1 pm, from Our Lady of Mount Carmel Roman Catholic Church, in Howard, with Father Doucet officiating. Interment will take place in the church cemetery.

Donations may be made to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Shrine, or to a memorial of one's choice.
