Mr. John F.G. (Jack) Whalen, husband of Betty Whalen, of Miramichi, passed away on Monday, August 3, 2009, at the Miramichi Regional Hospital, at the age of 90.

John was the son of the late T. Herbert and Eva Alberta (Hunter) Whalen. He was the owner of Whalen Brother's Construction and attended St Mary’s Roman Catholic Church.

John is survived by his wife Betty; one daughter Nancy Joan Horne (David) of Halifax; a special niece Sandra Faye Matchett; one special nephew Frederick Leslie Matchett; and one granddaughter Victoria Joan Horne. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Northumberland Funeral Home, on Wednesday, August 5, 2009, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. A private family interment will be held at a later date.

As expression of sympathy, donations may be made to a memorial of one’s choice.
