John Bracken, of Miramichi, passed away peacefully at the Miramichi Regional Hospital on Monday, November 3, 2025, surrounded by love. Two days away from his 80th birthday.
Born in Miramichi, he was the son of the late Raymond and Edith (Landry) Bracken. He worked as a millwright for 37 years prior to his retirement. He was a dedicated member of Lions International for 53 years, currently serving with the Newcastle Lions Club.
He will be greatly missed by his wife, Anne (St-Coeur) Bracken of Miramichi; daughter, Eden McDougall of Miramichi; son, Leigh Bracken (Paula) of British Columbia; sister, Diana (Geoff Plourde) of Saint John; three grandchildren, Crystal Walls (Max), Courtney McGinn (Jared), and Taylor McDougall (Ryan); four great grandchildren, Madison and Chloe Walls, and Ella and Rowan McGinn; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his son-in-law, Stephen Laforest.
Visitation will take place at Northumberland Funeral Home on Thursday, November 6, 2025, from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm. The funeral service will be held on Friday, November 7, 2025, at 10 am, at Northumberland Funeral Home Chapel, with Father John Fraser officiating. All are welcome to attend the reception at the Newcastle Lions' Club from 11 am to 12:30 pm. Interment will take place in Saint Andrew's R.C. Cemetery in Loggieville at 1 pm.
As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to the Newcastle Lions' Club or to a memorial of one's choice.
