  • It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of the late John Allan Connick announce his passing on Saturday, May 31, 2014, after a lengthy illness, at the Miramichi Regional Hospital, at the age if 81.

    Born in South Nelson, he was the son of the late Thomas and Mary (Corcoran) Connick.

    Before his retirement, Allan worked as a millwright at Repap Enterprises, as well as being employed at other local mills during his career. A loving and caring husband to Roberta, he was also devoted to his children and grandchildren. His love for the great outdoors inspired him to become an avid gardener, fisherman, and hunter. Allan loved animals and cared for many pets throughout his lifetime.

    He will be sadly missed by his wife of 60 years Roberta (Curtis) Connick of South Nelson; three daughters Connie (Roy Wooldridge) of Saint John, Darlene of McKinleyville, and Shelley (Rob McLean) of Prince Edward Island; one sister Marg Clouston of Lower Derby who is also the last surviving member of her immediate family; eight grandchildren Michael, Richard, Graham, Roxanne, Jennifer, Timothy, Grant, and Patrick; nine great grandchildren Mikey, Dylan, Emily, Hannah, James, Marissa, Maeve, Nolan, Leo; and several nieces and nephews.

    Besides his parents, he was predeceased by three brothers Gerald, Lawrence and Everett, two sisters Florence and Annie, and two son-in-law Mike Dawson and Brian Woods.

    At Allan's request, there will be no funeral service. Interment will take place in Lower Derby Baptist Church Cemetery, at a later date.

    As expression of sympathy, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, The Arthritis Society, or the Palliative Care unit at the Miramichi Regional Hospital.
