Hubert Wilson Sherrard

Hubert Wilson Sherrard, of Whitney, passed away in the presence of his daughters on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at the Miramichi Regional Hospital, at the age of 93.

Born in Whitney, NB, he was the son of the late Thomas Allan and Bertha Jane (MacTavish) Sherrard.

• Hubert worked as a bookkeeper at various locations over the years, including Standard Auto, Sunny Corner Mechanical, and Brookdale Nurseries. What he enjoyed most was spending time in his woodlot and beside the Miramichi River. He wrote:

• Please lay my bones to rest
  • In Miramichi, New Brunswick

For it is there that I love best

He will be greatly missed by his daughters Shelley Sherrard (Bruce Pond) of New Maryland, NB, and Esther Mead (Fred) of Beaver Dam, NB; five grandchildren Spencer (Erin) Pond, Colin Pond, Lucas Pond, Kris Mead and Michael Mead, three great grandchildren Mikaeus Pond, Sylar Carr-Mead, and Arya Mead; two sisters-in-law Shirley Sherrard and Doris Sherrard both of Moncton, NB; and several nieces and nephews including special niece Gwen Geikie of Miramichi.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Laura (Kernighan) Sherrard; his grandson Matthew Sherrard; and his siblings Edward Sherrard, Myrna Sherrard, Shirley Adams, and Gordon Sherrard.

In keeping with his wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. Burial will take place in St Philip's United Cemetery, in Whitney, at a later date.

As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to Miramichi Housing Solutions, Miramichi Community Food Bank, or a memorial of one's choice.
