Harold “Buddy” Joseph Alexander Beswarick, born October 12, 1946, passed away peacefully surrounded by love on Sunday, May 10, 2026.
Buddy is survived by his devoted wife of more than 55 years, Bonnie (Warren) Beswarick, whom he married in 1969. In Campbellton, together they built a family grounded in love, loyalty, kindness, and unwavering support. He leaves behind his three children: April Eardley (Mitch), Ryan Beswarick, and Amy Beswarick (Nick McCarthy).
Nothing brought Buddy greater pride than his family, especially his five beloved grandchildren: Will and Cole Eardley, and Reid, Lauren, and Nate McCarthy. His love for them was immeasurable and evident in every moment he spent with them. They were truly the light of his life. He was predeceased by his father Edgar Beswarick, his mother, Ida Diotte, half siblings, Amanda, Antoinette and Edward.
Born in Campbellton and raised in Dalhousie, New Brunswick, Buddy grew up in a strict French Catholic household with his sisters Kay (Roland Thériault), Jeanie (Paul Gray) and Dolly (Maurice Landry). Life experiences, along with the love he shared with Bonnie, shaped the values he passed on to his children — kindness, humility, compassion, loyalty, and the importance of always showing up for the people you love.
Buddy was kind and generous to a fault — the true definition of a salt-of-the-earth man. Alongside Bonnie, he created a home rooted in strong values and unconditional love. The lessons they instilled in their children will continue through generations.
Buddy also faced many personal struggles throughout his life, including challenges with his mental health, which he carried with quiet strength.
His final years were difficult and included a 15-month stay in Miramichi Hospital. Yet even in those hard days, there were moments of peace and connection. On what would become his second last day on earth, Buddy was transferred to Losier Hall, where he was able to sit outside with his son, basking in the warmth of a beautiful sunny day. In that moment, he was content.
Buddy passed away peacefully on Sunday with his son Ryan and daughter Amy by his side, holding his hands, while his grandson Nate played in the hallway nearby — a quiet and beautiful reminder of the family he loved so deeply. His wife, Bonnie, and daughter, April, were with him on the phone during his final moments. Surrounded by love, Buddy passed peacefully.
His family will remember him for his gentle heart, his generosity, his deep love for family, and the values he leaves behind in all who knew him.
He will be deeply missed and forever loved.\
Donations can be made in Buddy’s memory to dementia research and any medical support.
