  • Gertrude Josephine Howe, of Miramichi Senior Citizens Home, passed away on Sunday, September 29, 2013, at the age of 103.

    Born in Red Bank, she was the daughter of the late William and Ellen (Foran) Dunn. She worked as a hair dresser before her retirement and was a member of the Friendship Senior Citizens and St Mary's Roman Catholic Church.

    She will be sadly missed by her daughter Colleen Arseneau of Ottawa, ON; her sister Catherine Kirpatrick of Lachute, QB; her brother William Dunn of the Miramichi Senior Citizens Home; and several nieces and nephews.

    Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Samuel Howe, her son-in-law Robert Arseneau, three sisters Beatrice, Margaret, and Veronica, and two brothers John and George (Foran).

    The family will receive relatives and friends from Northumberland Funeral Home, on Monday, September 30, 2013, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St Mary's Roman Catholic Church, on Tuesday, October 1, 2013, at 11 am, with Father Tom Fowler officiating. Interment will take place in St Thomas Roman Catholic Cemetery, in Red Bank.

    As expression of sympathy, donations to the Miramichi Senior Citizens Home would be appreciated.
