George Barrieau, husband of Marion Barrieau, of Douglasfield, passed away on Tuesday, March 1, 2016, at the Miramichi Regional Hospital, at the age of 74.
Born in Miramichi, he was the son of the late Peter and Gladys (Donovan) Barrieau. He worked as a barber and was a member of St Patrick's Roman Catholic Church.
George will be sadly missed by his wife Marion; four daughters Mary Ann of Miramichi, Ellen Waye (Blake) of Trout Brook, Patricia (Patti) (Glenn Beaker) of Maces Bay, NB, and Margaret Ruth (Peggy) of Miramichi; four brothers Ron, Pete (Barb), Gerry (Barb), and Edward (Helen) all of Miramichi; four sisters Anne (Pat Butler), Nancy (Ken McIntosh), Pamela (Tony Layton), and Cathy (Paul Hamilton) all of Miramichi; brother-in-law Stoney (Edmund) Malley of Miramichi; three grandchildren Lindsay, Ryan, and Benjamin; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by an infant son Paul; sister Janice Malley; infant brother Robert; and sister-in-law Julianna (Richard) Barrieau.
The family will receive relatives and friends from Northumberland Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 2, 2016, from 7 to 9 pm and on Thursday, March 3, 2016, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 4, 2016, at 11 am, from St Patrick's Roman Catholic Church, with Father Arnie Hachey officiating.
As expression of sympathy, donations may be made to the Miramichi Oncology Clinic, or to the Palliative Care Unit.
