  • It is with great sadness that the family announces the death of Eleanor Gail Laura MacWilliam, wife of Kenneth MacWilliam. Gail passed away peacefully January 11th, 2023, at Bridgeview Hall, Miramichi NB, at the age of 78.

Gail was born on September 20, 1944, in Oak Point, NB.

She will be greatly missed and cherished by her devoted and loving husband of 55 years, Kenneth of Bridgeview hall, her children: daughters, Tracy Colley of Miramichi; and Lori Littlejohn of Chemainus as well as her son in laws: Roger Colley and Morgan Littlejohn who she loved as her own. She will be deeply missed by her grandchildren: Gabriel and Zachary Colley and Lennon and Stryder Littlejohn whom she adored.
She is survived by her Brothers; Robert (Sandi) Mason of Miramichi and Wayne (Carol) Mason of Winnipeg and nieces and nephews; Ross Mason of Toronto, Robin Mason and Michael Mason of Moncton, Aaron Mason of Winnipeg, Paul Mason of Fredericton, D.J. Mason of Millerton, Brian MacDonald of Ontario, Scott MacDonald of St. John, Brenda Bell of Miramichi, Carla Dickson of Miramichi, Brenda MacDonald and Debbie Cassidy of Burnt Church as well as many dear cousins and close friends.

She was pre deceased by her mother: Marion Mason.

Gail studied nursing in Montreal, Quebec and began her career at the Miramichi Hospital as a nursing instructor at the school of nursing. She went on to work at the Miramichi Senior Citizens Home in Chatham as an R.N. for 22 years until her retirement in 1999. She was an exceptional nurse who treated everyone equally, with great respect and dignity. She was admired by her peers and co-workers many of whom continued to stay in touch throughout the years.
In her last years, Gail lived at MSCH and Bridgeview Hall where she was impeccably and lovingly cared for by the wonderful staff. She passed away suddenly yet peacefully in her sleep.

Gail was full of light and selflessness. She gave away so much more than she took from this life and was the embodiment of grace. Gail never lost sight of what is truly important in life which is that those you love know just how loved and special they are. She made everyone feel that they were her favourite. The world was a much better place with her in it.
To honour her we ask that you take a page from her book and love big and with all your heart.

There was no visitation. A celebration of her life with a grave side service will take place at the Burnt Church Union Cemetery in the summer of 2023.

Arrangements were entrusted to Northumberland Funeral Home & Crematorium, 102 Pleasant Street, Miramichi, telephone (506) 622-7741. Additionally, messages of condolences may be shared online at www.northumberlandfh.com
