Betty (Elizabeth) Helen Corcoran of Miramichi, NB passed away peacefully at the Mount Saint Joseph Nursing Home on Saturday, February 28, 2026 at the age of 91.
Born October 10th, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Alphonse and Hilda (Robichaud) Blacquier, and loving wife of the late Fred Corcoran.
Betty is survived by her sister Patsy Bryenton (Marty), her children Jerry (Martha), Nancy (Rick) Mullin, Danny (Diane), and John (Madeleine), and her 11 grandchildren Tammy, Jesse, Karla, Kevin, Krystal, Amy, Bradley, Ashley, Riley, Sean and Alex, as well as her 17 great grandchildren.
Besides her parents and husband, Betty is predeceased by her daughter, Helen (Edward) Barrieau and her sisters Jean, Lola, Joan, Jackie, Myrna, and brothers Donald and Lloyd.
Betty was the very definition of kindness and gentleness. Content and even-tempered, she loved her husband, her family, and her friends with her whole heart. Betty and Freddy were happily married for 67 years, and they provided a beautiful example of enduring love to all who knew them.
Betty taught us to find the good in every situation, and she lived happily within her means, encouraging us to do the same. She found joy in reading a good book, journaling her thoughts, and carefully curating her treasured collection of photographs. In earlier years, she enjoyed daily walks to the post office on St Patrick’s Drive, often with a grandchild or two by her side. She adored the children in her life and always made time to play, to listen, and to make them feel special (this usually involved ice cream!). She also loved a good family party with guitars, music, and laughter. She spoiled us with her famous cinnamon rolls, fresh-picked blueberry muffins, Christmas hams, tuna casseroles, and there was always time for tea. Her beautiful smile was shared readily with all those who crossed her path. It is a smile we will carry with us always.
Betty’s family would like to express special thanks to the 3rd floor nurses and staff at Mount St. Joseph nursing home, for their exceptional care.
At her request, there will be no visitation. A private family service will be held, and interment will take place in St Patrick's Cemetery at a later date.
As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to Mount Saint Joseph, Percy’s Place, or a memorial of one's choice.
Funeral arrangements are in the care of Northumberland Funeral Home & Crematorium, 102 Pleasant St., telephone (506) 622-7741.
