Eldon Comeau

May 27, 1931 — March 4, 2024

Eldon Comeau, of Oak Point, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 4, 2024, at the Miramichi Regional Hospital, at the age of 92.

Born in Miramichi, he was the son of the late Alfred and Eugenie (LeBreton) Comeau. He worked for the Department of Transportation- Bridge Department, and was a member of St Peter & St Paul Roman Catholic Church, in Bartibog.

Eldon loved life and welcomed each day as a new adventure filled with humor, fun, friendship, and lots of hard work. He said there was no trade he did not try; fishing, lumbering, truck driving, heavy equipment operator, farming, building bridges over all the waterways of Northumberland County, and many more occupations too numerous to mention.

He enjoyed his dogs, the squirrels and birds that came to his feeders, and most of all he loved the company of his many friends and family members.

He will be greatly missed by his son Scott Comeau (Crystal Furlotte / daughter Phoenix ) of Miramichi; three sisters Anne Comeau (Late Eric) of Miramichi, Carmel Galimore (Clive) and Ruby Burke (Late Gail) of Halifax, NS; brother Terry Comeau (Elizabeth); grandson Michael Blakeley; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his family, he will be greatly missed by his faithful buddies: Edward Anderson, Bill Mills, George Bowie, David Bowie, and his companion Frances Connell.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Ella (King) Comeau, sisters Violet Estey and Margaret McLaughlin, and brothers James and Sterling Comeau.

Eldon will always be remembered as a kind, generous and fine gentleman. He gave us laughter and joy; always mindful of the gifts from His Creator and giving the best of himself in return. May his loving soul rest in the light and peace of eternity.

A funeral service will be held at St Peter & St Paul Roman Catholic Church, in Bartibog, at a later date. Interment will take place in the church cemetery.

As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to a memorial of one’s choice.
