It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dr. Cecil Hammond Inglis at Parkstone Enhanced Care in Halifax. He will be greatly missed by his beloved wife Patricia and sons, Colin and George and their families. Also left to mourn are his extended family in Ontario, Caribbean, England, Luxembourg, Paris, and Singapore.

Dr. Inglis was born February 10, 1937 in Castries, Saint Lucia. He undertook his medical studies at Trinity College Dublin, The University of Dublin and earned Fellow of the Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (FSOGC) and Fellow Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (FRCOG). Following graduation, he worked in England before emigrating to Canada in 1971 with Patricia and Colin.

He worked at the Ottawa Civic Hospital for a year before the family moved to Miramichi, NB, in 1972 where their son George was born. Forty-six wonderful years were spent in Miramichi where Dr. Inglis delivered more than 5000 babies.

After retiring in 2001, time was spent travelling and in the garden tending to his cherished lawns. 2017 saw Cecil and Patricia move to Dartmouth where they were able to spend time with their son, daughter-in-law, and their twin boys.

The family would like to thank all who have helped care for Papa over the past two years: the staff at Dartmouth General Hospital, the personal support workers who tended to him at home, and the absolutely wonderful staff at Parkland Enhanced Care, especially the staff of Garden Court.

A service to honour Cecil’s life and to give thanks for all the blessings life bestowed on him, will be held at Port Wallis United Church, Dartmouth, NS on November 11, 2023 at 2pm.

In lieu of flowers we would ask that you perform an act of kindness or give to your local food bank or soup kitchen.
