Dawna Sherrard

March 22, 1934 — December 31, 2023

Dawna Grace (Harris) Sherrard, of Boom Road passed away peacefully on December 31, 2023 at Miramichi Regional Hospital after a lengthy illness.

Born in Boom Road, daughter of the late Margaret (Harris) Sherrard, Dawna was a noted baker and loved to host tea at her home. She was an avid knitter of fine wool socks that she loved to gift, especially at Christmas time. She enjoyed Cryptogram-style word puzzles, looked forward to 4:30 every afternoon when she would take in her favourite game shows, Jeopardy! and Wheel of Fortune, and was a big fan of Murder She Wrote.

Dawna was a Christian, and at the peak of her health she been a very active member of the Boom Road Pentecostal Church. She read her Bible daily and if she knew you, she prayed for you. She made people feel loved and important.

Dawna is survived and greatly missed by sister Paula Flanagan (Terry), daughters Gail Colosimo (Paul), Lynne Murphy (Kevin), Sally Estey (George); sons Roger Sherrard (Mary), Paul Sherrard (Susan) and Kevin Sherrard; Grandchildren Peter, Melanie, Maggie, Robin, Lindsay, Jessica, Katie, Ian and Emma; great- grandchildren Alexander, Owen and Cadence.

Dawna is predeceased by her husband Omar Holmes Sherrard, special son Ian Frederick Sherrard, mother Margaret Sherrard (Harris), brothers Charles Cain and Sterling (Tooie) Cain, sister Connie Horton and great grandson Liam Colosimo.

The family would like to thank Dr. Losier and the palliative care team at the Miramichi Regional Hospital, and everyone that visited her over the last year. People have always mattered to Dawna and the company meant a lot.

Visitation will take place on Friday, January 5, 2024, at Boom Road Pentecostal Church, from 12 pm until 2 PM. The funeral service will follow, at 2:30 PM, with Pastor Jody Holmes officiating. Interment will take place in the church cemetery at a later date.

As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to Hugs for Kids, Boom Road Pentecostal Cemetery Fund, or to Boom Road Pentecostal Church Food Bank.
