David Anderson

January 26, 1953 — January 22, 2024

It is with great sadness that the family of David Anderson of South Esk, announces he has peacefully passed away from Percy’s Place, surrounded by his family, on Monday, January 22, 2024 at the age of 70.

David was a wonderful, devoted, kind and genuine gentleman. No one knew better than his family. Married for 50 years to his beloved wife Karen (Russell), amazing father to Lisa (Kiley) and Amy (Kendall). David also leaves behind his grandchildren who adored him, Courtney and Nate, John-David and Jorja and their father Kris. He loved his grandchildren so much and they were never far from his side. He was the best Poppy they could have ever asked for.

Friends were equally blessed by David’s friendship. Their names too many to mention, yet each will know how valued they were to him. Everyone who knew David were blessed beyond measure to know and experience his kindness, humor and great love for life. Hired by the Gun Registry in 2013, David loved every minute of his time spent there up until his retirement in 2022. He valued these friendships immensely and loved to make everyone smile, whether through a joke or a silly TikTok.

David will be missed dearly by his favorite sister Sheree and beloved niece Melodee (Eric).

Karen’s family mourns alongside her. They include her brothers Kevin (Lori Anne) and Dale (Hazel) Russell, many nieces and nephews: Karla Hodge (Greg), Jacob Russell (Laura), Ashley Hoyles (Daniel), Josh Russell, Nicole Mahoney (J.F.) and Chris Mahoney (Kylie).

David was predeceased by his parents Karl and Susie (Jardine) Anderson and father and mother-in-law Earl and Hilma Russell, sister in-law Judy, niece Janessa and nephew Buddy.

Special thanks to Dr. Losier and the incredible staff at Percy’s Place who showed such love and compassion to both him and his family, as David made his journey home. Thanks to Dr. Kpogo, Dr. Lim and Dr. Salam who provided such great care for David, never giving up on him over the last few years and Ian Chute, for his support throughout treatment.  We would also like to thank the nurses and staff at Miramichi Oncology and Extra Mural.  You all brought such light throughout the storm. We are forever thankful.

Visitations will be open to the public at Northumberland Funeral Home, 102 Pleasant St, Miramichi, on Monday, January 29th from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. Interment will take place in Miramichi Cemetery at a later date.
