Charles Allen Whitney

Charles Allen Whitney, of Miramichi, passed away at Foothills Medical Centre in Calgary, Alberta, on Saturday, December 27, 2025, at the age of 77.

Born in Miramichi, he was the son of the late John and Theresa (McLean) Whitney. He was a butcher for 51 years, first starting out at Mitchell's Meat Market and then Miramichi Meats for 34 years until his retirement.

In his younger years, he loved playing baseball and hockey, and even volunteered as a coach. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved fishing, hunting, four-wheeling, snowmobiling, and spending time at his camp.

He will be greatly missed by his four children, Tracy Hachey (Kevin) of Eel Ground; Natalie Whitney (Mason) of Miramichi; Eugene (Thao) of Calgary, AB; and Terry Whitney (Darla) of Miramichi; one brother, James Whitney (Audrey) of Miramichi; ten grandchildren Dylan, Emma, and Andrea Ward, Carlee, Camryn, Presley, and Charleigh Whitney, Jade Dawson (Cody), and Terrance and Sarah Whitney; two great grandchildren Walker and Ellie Dawson; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters Mary T. Russell and Joyce Gilks, and brothers John and Burnley.

Visitation will be held at Northumberland Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, from 3 pm to 5:30 pm. The funeral service will follow at 6 pm, at Northumberland Funeral Home Chapel, with Father Sylvanus Omali officiating.

As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Society or to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
