Beverley "Beth" (Matchett) Gorman

December 21, 1962 — October 8, 2025

Our beautiful, fierce, witty, and golden-hearted mom spent her final days wrapped in immense love. Her passing has left us shocked and heartbroken. A true warrior, Beth endured and pushed through two open-heart surgeries and their long recoveries — fighting with courage, humour, and grace until the very end.

Beth was the loving wife of Jeff Gorman, devoted daughter of Norma (née Tower) and the late Ronald Matchett, and sister to Linda (John) Stevens, Bob (Sheryl) Matchett, and Cheryl (Jim) Clark. She was also a beloved sister-in-law to Michael (Kim) Gorman, Bradley (Peggy) Gorman, and Lisa (David) Roy, and a proud aunt to nine nieces and nephews: Michael, Sheryl, David, Andrew, Brittany “Birdy”, Jack, Shane, Michaela and Matthew.

Proud and adoring mom to Jane (Nicholas) McLaughlin of Miramichi and Katelyn (Nic) Lefebvre of St. Albert, AB. Her greatest joy came from being “Gigi” to her five precious grandchildren — Audrey, Caroline, Madelyn, Benny, and Lauren — whom she loved beyond measure. Her love for them was fierce, unconditional, and endless. She breathed for them, she fought for them, and she made sure Grampy Jay knew he had big shoes to fill in keeping that love alive.

Beth was her sister’s best friend, and “Mom and Aunt Big (Cheryl)” were inseparable. Known to each other as Sugar and Sunshine, they explored countless destinations together, finding laughter — and often a bit of mischief — wherever they went. Even when miles apart, not a day passed without a phone call between them. Their bond was unbreakable, and Biggy never left her side in the end.

A proud member of the “Bitches Card Club” for over 30 years, Beth treasured her lifelong friends who brought joy, laughter, and fierce competition to every gathering. She was also a devoted card player and a cherished bridge partner to her cousin Judy, who held a special place in her heart.

Her absence is heavy, and the void she leaves is deep. But as the song says, “Grief is only love that’s got no place to go.”We’ll honour her one day at a time — through humour in dark moments, a good slice of cheesecake, love for the underdog, only wearing 80%+ cotton socks, brushing our teeth twice a day (you know she’d check!), indulging in the “divine” foods, feeling the wind on our faces, and listening to the crash of the waves.

“I’ll love you forever,

I’ll like you for always,

As long as I’m living,

my Mommy you’ll be.”

We love you, Mom. Gigi. Bethy. You were one of a kind and will be missed by so many.

A heartfelt thank-you to NP Greg Murphy, Dr. Michelle Caissie, Dr. Coleman Black, and nurses Robyn, Ajay, Star, and Nicolette for their exceptional care and compassion.

There will be no visitation. A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
