Audrey Minnie Matchett

It is with great sadness that the family of Audrey Minnie (Newman) Matchett announce her passing on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at Bridgeview Hall at the age of 78.

Born in Miramichi, she was the daughter of the late Alan and Beatrice Newman. She was predeceased by her brother David Newman and sister-in law Carol Newman, brother Ambury Newman and brother-in-law Frank Duthie.

Audrey was so very proud of her children and grandchildren. She had a passion for music and always enjoyed listening to her family sing.  She loved company and always had time for great conversations with maybe - a little tormenting - or joking around.

She will be greatly missed by her children: Dwayne Matchett; Derek Matchett (Lisa); Victoria Roy (Brian); sister: Barbara Duthie; brother: Garfield Newman (Pauline); sister in law: Edith Newman; grandchildren: Tamara Baker (Matthew), Mitchell Roy, Brad Matchett, Renee Pineau; one great grandchild: Jude Baker.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Northumberland Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 20, 2025  from 10:00 am to 11:30 am, followed by a Celebration of Life at Northumberland Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Alice Szemok officiating.

As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made in Audrey's memory to  Miramichi Housing Solutions.
